Human beings have always sought meaning in events that overwhelm them. Faced with uncertainty, chaos, or the unseen, symbols become points of reference: they reassure, question, and sometimes unsettle. In the world of conspiracy theories, these symbols occupy a central place. An all-seeing eye, an unfinished pyramid, arabesques forming numbers, a hand gesture, or a simple logo can be interpreted-rightly or wrongly-as hidden messages, provocations, or proof of the existence of an elite operating in the shadows.

By perusing this book as if it were an old manuscript, the reader is invited to step back, question the mechanisms of belief, and distinguish the symbol as a cultural object from its interpretation. Understanding conspiracy symbols also means better understanding our collective fears, our relationship to power, and our need for explanatory narratives in a complex world.
When studying semiology (or symbology), it is important to understand that a symbol is neither positive nor negative! A symbol is neutral, and it is beliefs, paranoid delusions, or on the contrary, hidden intentions, voluntary or perverse inversions that give it a specific meaning and that will make it, depending on the case and the context, a representation of good or a tool of evil.

This book is in no way partisan, and even if some turns of phrase might suggest that we lend credence to conspiracy theories or that we point out some dubious aspects (and there are undeniably some!), this collection should not be seen as taking any position for or against Christians, conspiracy theorists, Jews, Muslims, Freemasons, Luciferians, Rosicrucians, transhumanists, or anyone else. This book therefore makes no accusations of bias, being beholden to any political or religious affiliation. But since the right to express oneself, to learn, and to reflect is a precious right, we invoke it here in support of our cause.

When not dealing with established or historical facts, the conditional tense is generally used in this book. People who sincerely believe in the existence of a global cabal are referred to here as "conspiracy theorists" or "truth seekers." However, the term "conspiracy theorist" is also sometimes used, although this is a misnomer since, originally, conspiracy theorists are the people or entities that truth seekers accuse... rightly or wrongly.

As you will see in this book, a more nuanced reading of many symbols can sometimes be unsettling and inevitably leads us to ask perplexing questions without falling into partisan or sectarian certainty. Depending on their sensitivities and beliefs, some readers will respond to the proven use and dissemination of certain symbols by attributing them to pure coincidence, folklore, mere provocation, or marketing, while others will be convinced that behind all these signs lies a secret plan, a scheme, a conspiracy, a hidden agenda, and that there is no such thing as chance.
