Seit einigen Jahren habe ich eine Website eingerichtet mit dem Titel Gedanken zum Klimakterium, auf der ich meine Erlebnisse in und mit den Wechseljahren schildere. Diese Seite erfreut sich eines regen Besuchs und gro er Anteilnahme. Ich habe mich nun dazu entschlossen meinen Erfahrungsbericht auch in Buchform herauszugeben, unter dem Titel: Tabuthema Wechseljahre. Ich widme dies Buch all jenen, die nicht zufrieden sind mit allzu blauäugigen Publikationen übers Klimakterium. Ich finde, es mussten ein paar Dinge klargestellt werden und überhaupt erst einmal gesagt werden. Wohlgemerkt, es ist mein Weg durch die Wechseljahre, den ich beschreibe und es ist nicht gesagt, dass jede Frau diesen ungewöhnlich schweren Weg gehen muss oder wird. Dieser zum Teil sehr steinige Weg allerdings, hat mich jedoch erst dazu gebracht zu bemerken, was in Punkto Menschlichkeit in unserem westlichen System sehr zu wünschen übrig lässt und was dringend der Änderung bedarf. Durch diese Zeit kommen wir Frauen irgendwie alle, die Frage ist eben nur auf welche Art, ob versteckt, verschämt oder offen und selbstbewusst. Ich hoffe, mit meinem Buch zu mehr Offenheit beigetragen zu haben.

Barbara Wenzel-Winter, Jahrgang 1948, wurde auf dem Gut Groß-Below in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern geboren, ist ausgebildete Modedesignerin und lebt heute mit ihrem Mann und ihren beiden Kindern in Bremen. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit als freischaffende Künstlerin ist sie als Autorin und Fotografin tätig. Von ihr sind bei BoD bereits weitere sechs Bücher erschienen.
