Her dream for writing this book stems from her desire to inspire future generations to see their worth, give to others and take as many cookies as possible.Jean started writing the book several years ago while taking a memoir writing class at Avenidas in Palo Alto, though had known for many years it would be an undertaking to write her memoir once she retired.It is the story of Jean's life as well as an inspiring message about seizing opportunities to better yourself and the importance of giving back to the community.Jean states that "life is more than a college degree. When something sounds interesting, follow that curious spirit. Just put up your hand! Be your best self and always live by the Golden Rule. You never know who is watching. I have never in my life applied for any job and have a lifetime of meaningful work to celebrate.""Here I tell my story of cookies I have taken, choices I have made that became something special and out of the ordinary, taking me places I'd never been before. Almost as though any one cookie given and taken way back then has had a journey, weaving itself into almost all that has made a difference in my life."When asked what advice she would give herself at age 20, Jean shared her wisdom: "Take time to analyze yourself. What will fulfill you? Are you the kind of person who needs a four-year degree and then another four years of study before you feel that you have something especially important to give?
