Whether read digitally or in print, this story has been designed with children in mind. The layout prioritises clarity and ease, reflecting the care taken in the printed editions, which are produced to feel sturdy, comfortable, and inviting for young hands.

When Rufus Brown, the brown dragon with snagged, golden wings, a preference for burnt food and a hatred of his cousin, discovers that many of the pet silkworms and glow worms from Tildale, (including his own pet silkworm, Spinner), have suddenly gone missing he sets out on an adventure to find them - one that puts him in mortal danger. Rufus enlists the help of Captain Ambrose "Shnozz" Johnson, a retired military centaur with a highly sensitive nose to help track the pets. The pair are soon joined by a fairy named Sorilla Rosewater and a unicorn named Lazar Lightening, both of whom are nearing their graduation from Enchantederra High School. Two very different and frightening beasts, along with other folk, ensure ensure that they each must use their wits and their different skills to cope with a succession of difficulties and dangers as this tale of Tildale unfolds.

As humans travelled by sea or by air to this ancient land and settled into communities, they were accompanied, (unbeknownst to the humans), by a few of the creatures from their diverse myths or stories. Invisible to humans and much smaller, these creatures established their own communities. This is a work entirely from the imagination of the author and depicts a community where not all dragons are fearsome, not all fairies are good, not all cyclopes are dangerous and not all leprechauns are mischievous - although some are.

Carmody, Phillipa Margaret: - Phillipa Carmody has begun a series of fantasy books for children in which the personalities of creatures such as dragons, fairies, centaurs, cyclopes and unicorns are very human and not the traditional stereotypes. Adventure, co-operation and gentle humor fill her imaginative and entertaining tales. These books have been crafted to enhance the physical experience of reading a book for young readers and are designed not to overwhelm. The use of double spacing, wide margins and high-quality paper makes reading a novel feel more achievable for children attempting their first chapter books. Having studied literature, history and philosophy in her B.A. (Hons), worked as a director in local theatre, travelled widely and raised her children, with their many pets, Phillipa has been able to draw upon a wide range of experiences which have fueled her imagination and desire to inspire new generations of young minds to think and to write stories of their own.
