Die Idee zur Analyse der Tarifabweichung hat eine l�ngere Vorgeschichte. Wir hatten das Thema bei uns am Institut seit der von Kritikern des Fl�chentarifv- trages heftig gef�hrten politischen Debatte um Arbeitszeitverl�ngerungen und gesetzliche �ffnungsklauseln h�ufiger diskutiert und einige Vorarbeiten dazu entwickelt. Konkrete Gestalt als Forschungsprojekt gewann die Idee dann am Ende des Jahres 2006, als ich mit der Tarifabteilung der IG Metall �bereinkam, eine Auswertung aller abweichenden Tarifvereinbarungen durchzuf�hren, die von der Gewerkschaft seit Abschluss des Pforzheimer Tarifvertrages im Jahr 2004 ausgehandelt worden waren. Von der herausgehobenen Rolle des Pfo- heimer Tarifvertrages f�r die Verbreitung von Tarifabweichungen in der Meta- und Elektroindustrie, vor allem aber auch f�r den praktischen Umgang der - werkschaft mit betriebsbezogenen Unterschreitungen der Fl�chentarifvertr�ge, wird im Verlauf der Untersuchung noch ausf�hrlich die Rede sein. Es war nicht zuletzt diese ver�nderte Praxis der IG Metall, die eine Untersuchung der Tar- abweichung in ihrem Organisationsbereich erst m�glich gemacht hat. Die Auswertung der insgesamt 850 abweichenden Vereinbarungen sollte gem� der Absprachen in Form eines kurzen Endberichts zusammengefasst werden. Im Verlauf der Inhaltsanalyse der abweichenden Vereinbarungen und in den Experteninterviews, die ich erg�nzend gef�hrt habe, zeigte sich aber rasch, dass die Zielsetzung eines kurzen Endberichts kaum zu erf�llen war. Zu vielf- tig waren die Ergebnisse der Auswertung, und zu vielschichtig war(en) die - schichte(n) der Tarifabweichung, die in den Interviews erz�hlt wurde(n).
