The book, comprising 23 chapters, is broadly divided into four sections, namely Basic concepts of insurance, Value proposition in insurance, Delivering value in insurance, and Contemporary insurance business.
Covering basic concepts of risk management and insurance and elucidating value proposition in insurance by emphasising products and procedures/underwriting of life insurance and general insurance business, the book includes delivery of value in insurance by explaining claims settlement procedures, role of intermediaries, communication channels and various insurance regulations in India and contemporary issues of insurance business. G.S. POPLI, Ph.D., is Director and Professor of Banking and Insurance, Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, Delhi. He has served at Oriental Bank of Commerce for more than three decades as "Financial Analyst" before joining Academics. Dr. Popli is a CeBA and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) qualified professional.
Professor Popli specialises in Banking, Finance and Insurance. He was conferred "Delhi Udyog Rattan" Award by the then Industry Minister of National Capital Region of Delhi in 2008 for his contribution in the area of SME Financing in India. He has more than 60 research papers to his credit, which have been published/presented at various international and national journal/seminars and conferences. He is also a regular visiting professor to many Staff Training Colleges of Banks and some premier management institutes of Delhi and NCR. Besides the present text, he has authored three books including Strategic Credit Management in Banks and Principles and Systems of Banking, published by PHI Learning.

SHARAD GUPTA Ph.D. (FMS-DU), Associate Professor, Delhi School of Business, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies—Technical Campus (VIPS-TC), Delhi. He is an alumnus of IIT-BHU and IIM Indore. In his sixteen years of work experience, he served industry for ten years before joining academics. He has worked with Infosys Technologies, and in insurance industry, he has served ICICI Lombard, Bharti AXA and Royal Insurance Broking. His last industry designation was Senior Vice President, Royal Insurance Broking. He received commendation certificates from ICICI Lombard and Bharti AXA. He has authored several research papers for internationally acclaimed conferences and journals. Mr. Gupta is a life member of All India Management Association and Delhi Management Association.
