Today, large parts of the world are looking to the Nordic model of social organization, and interest in the Nordic comprehensive school system and teacher education arrangements is no exception. A good education is a key to prosperity and well-being. And the quality of students' education is undoubtedly linked to the quality of their teachers' education. While teacher education in the Nordic region is globally admired, it also faces new challenges. Eyvind Elstad is a full professor at the University of Oslo. Dr. Elstad is an expert on teaching, teachers' work and teacher education. He examines teacher education, teaching, teachers as employees, and schools as workplaces. His current main interest is teacher education in the Nordic region. He has published over 120 scientific articles and chapters, has edited 7 books on several topics and published in professional journals. Professor Elstad has served several board and committee memberships in many countries.
