Teaching Instrumental Music: Contemporary Perspectives and Pedagogies reflects the music pedagogy of recent years while acknowledging traditional instruments and styles. Written by a diverse, expert team of forty-seven authors, the text covers both the teaching of individual instruments and the teaching of instrumental ensembles. It can serve as the sole comprehensive text to accompany any instrumental music education class, including concert band, jazz band, marching band, strings, and popular music.

Bryan Powell is Assistant Professor of Music Education and Music Technology at Montclair State University, where he teaches classes in music technology and popular music. He also serves as the Director of Higher Education for the non-profit organization Music Will.

Kristen Pellegrino is Professor of Music Education (Strings) at the University of Texas at San Antonio and President of the American String Teachers Association (2020-2022). She teaches graduate courses in research and psychological foundations of teaching and learning, as well as undergraduate string education courses, and supervises UTSA's String Project teachers.

Quincy C. Hilliard is Professor of Music, Composer in Residence, and Heymann Endowed Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He teaches courses in composition and music education. Dr. Hillard is also the author of numerous publications--including several technique books--for wind band.
