Mucho y desde muy atrás en el tiempo, se ha publicado sobre el Arte Teatral y sobre quienes los practican: los Actores.Esto dio como resultado que durante años, los libros de Texto han inundado el mercado en número importante, perosi bien la teatrología ha avanzado mucho (especialmente desde las publicaciones de hombres de teatro) o se contemplandefiniciones muy particulares del hecho teatral o se imponen preceptos muy subjetivos sobre lo que debería ser un nuevoteatro. Por otra parte, la evolución del arte teatral ha provocado que florezcan numerosas experiencias dentro de un panorama a veces confuso. Y esto tiene, tal vez, su explicación: en el teatro, y particularmente en la actuación el hecho muere con su creador. Cada nueva generación debe descubrir todo el tiempo por sí misma, verdades descubiertas antes pero siempre perdidas.En este trabajo que se conforma de dos partes sólo hemos tratado de dar un punto de partida, de conocimiento, de apoyo y de comparación para iniciar el estudio de un arte milenario. Poco mérito fue el de construir este compendio, solo tuvimos que reconstruir el rompecabezas: trozos dispersos para reencontrar una verdadera imagen. Y para armarlo hemos recurrido a teorizantes, historiadores y realizadores del teatro actual. Vaya entonces un respetuoso reconocimiento a los autores que figuran en la bibliografía y cuya lectura es imperiosa. Pensamos si, que puede ser usado en clase, como base de diálogo, y en el teatro conjuntamente con la realización de los trabajos prácticos efectivos. Sólo de esta forma, este compendio será, no un texto para ser aprendido de memoria y recitado, sino una guía para todo aquel que incursione en nuestra disciplina, en la cual la responsabilidad --nuestra responsabilidad-- es recíproca entre profesores y alumnos, directores y actores.
