Antón Arrufat (Santiago de Cuba, 1935). Poeta, narrador, dramaturgo y ensayista, estuvo vinculado a las redacciones de Ciclón, Lunes de Revolución y Casa de las Américas. En su vasta obra literaria sobresalen libros de poesía -La huella en la arena-, colecciones de narrativa -¿Qué harás después de mí?- y de ensayos -El hombre discursivo-, además de las novelas La caja está cerrada y La noche del Aguafiestas -que mereciera el Premio Alejo Carpentier en su primera edición-. Su creación para la escena, donde sobresalen títulos como Todos los domingos y Las tres partes del criollo, ha sido publicada y estrenada. Con Los siete contra Tebas -publicada en Cuba y en el extranjero- obtuvo el Premio José Antonio Ramos de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) en 1968. Su labor en el campo de la crónica, donde destaca su volumen De las pequeñas cosas, lo convierte en un semejante de quienes, en las páginas de El Fígaro o La Habana Elegante, convirtieron este delicado género en un ejercicio de sutiles aciertos. Es miembro de la Academia Cubana de la Lengua. Admirado hoy por la más joven generación literaria de la Isla como pocos autores vivos, recibió el Premio Nacional de Literatura de Cuba en el año 2000.
