1982 erschien yom Verfasser im gleichen Verlag unter dem Titel "Grundlagen der Fernseh-System- und -Schaltungstechnik" ein mit vielen Referenzen versehenes Lehr- und Nachschlagewerk, das auf technisch-wissenschaftlicher Grundlage in die fachbezogene Licht- technik, Farbmetrik und Schaltungstechnik einfUhrt sowie ausfUhrli- che Daten iiber SchwarzweiB- und Farbsysteme des Heimfernsehens vermittelt. Auch der vorliegende, auf der gleichen Fachvorlesung an der Eidge- nossischen Technischen Hochschule in Ziirich basierende Folgeband wendet sich - reich ausgestattet mit Figuren und Tabellen - an einen breiten Leserkreis. Er mochte das im genannten Buch vermittelte Wissen im Sinne einer Gesamtschau iiber die analoge Fernsehtechnik der Gegenwart ergiinzen und abrunden. Der Bogen ist dabei weiter als im allgemeinen iiblich gespannt, da nebst den Bildaufnahme-, -speicher- und -wiedergabeverfahren auch die Ubertragungstechniken sowie Qualitiits- und MeBfragen behandelt werden, womit der ganze Ubertragungsweg zur Darstellung gelangt. Die groBe Tiefen- und Breitenentwicklung der Fernsehtechnik zwingt im vorgegebenen Rahmen zu einer stofflichen Beschriinkung. Wiih- rend grundlegende physikalische Beziehungen, Technologien und Systemeigenschaften verhiiltnismiiBig eingehend erortert werden, bleibt fiir Geriite und Sonderentwicklungen nur wenig Raum. Digitale Techniken und Textsysteme konnen nur im Uberblick behandelt werden. Eine ausfUhrliche Darstellung dieser Materie wie auch der . hochauflosenden neuen Fernsehsysteme wiirde einen dritten Band beanspruchen. In diesem Zusammenhang darf auf das 1983 im gleichen Verlag erschienene Buch "Bildkommunikation" von H. Schonfelder verwiesen werden.
