Das vorliegende Buch folgt der klassischen Aufteilung der technischen Mechanik, so wie sie an Fachhochschulen und Universitäten in Deutschland gelehrt wird, und widmet sich der Dynamik, d.h. der Betrachtung von Bewegungen von Körpern unter Kräften. Es ist das Ziel dieses Buchs, Studierenden den Einstieg in die Dynamik auf anschauliche Art und Weise zu ermöglichen und sie in die Lage zu versetzen, ingenieurstechnische Aufgabenstellungen eigenständig zu formulieren und zu lösen. Hierzu hält das Buch eine Reihe von Beispielen bereit. Dieses Buch wendet sich an Studierende an Fachhochschulen und Universitäten des Maschinenbaus, des Bauingenieurwesens, der Mechanik, aber auch aller anderen Studiengänge, in denen die Dynamik eine Rolle spielt.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Christian Mittelstedt studierte Bauingenieurwesen an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal, wo er sein Studium 1999 als Dipl.-Ing. abschloss. Er wurde 2005 an der Universität Siegen mit einer Dissertation über Spannungskonzentrationsprobleme in Composite-Laminaten zum Dr.-Ing. promoviert. Ab 2006 war er in der Deutschen Luftfahrtindustrie als Forschungsingenieur und ab 2011 als technischer Leiter im Bereich der Strukturanalyse tätig. Er habilitierte sich 2012 mit einer Arbeit über die Stabilität dünnwandiger Faserverbund-Bauteile im Leichtbau und ist Autor und Co-Autor von mehr als 200 wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten, die in internationalen Zeitschriften, Tagungsbänden, aber auch behördlich anerkannten Berechnungshandbüchern publiziert wurden. Er ist der Autor zahlreicher Lehrbücher. Seit August 2016 leitet er das Fachgebiet "Leichtbau und Strukturmechanik" am Fachbereich Maschinenbau der Technischen Universität Darmstadt.
