Das vorherrschende Streben nach immer leichteren Bauweisen auf fast allen Gebieten der Technik fiihrt zu elastischen Konstruktionen, die in hohem MaBe empfindlich gegen schwingungserregende Krafte sind. Der technischen Schwingungslehre kommt deshalb heute eine besondere Bedeutung bei. Auf dem deutschen Buchmarkt gibt es derzeit eine groBere Zahl von Lehrbiichern iiber dieses Gebiet, die sich, ganz grob gesprochen, in zwei Gruppen einteilen lassen. Bei der einen Gruppe handelt es sich um Werke von hohem wissen- schaftlichen Niveau, deren Durcharbeit betrachtliche Anforderungen an den Leser stellt, und die deshalb fiir den durchschnittlich mathema- tisch Geschulten nur schwer zuganglich sind. In eine zweite Gruppe lassen sich die iibrigen Lehrbiicher einordnen. Sie behandeln zwar das dargestellte Stoffgebiet elementar und gut ver- standlich, beschranken sich aber meist auf die Darlegung allgemeinster Zusammenhange und dringen nicht tief genug in die schwingungstech- nischen Problemstellungen ein, oder sie sind infolge einer manchmal recht willkiirlich erscheinenden Auswahl des bearbeiteten Stoffes etwas zu einseitig gehalten. Das vorliegende Buch solI dieS6 Liicke im Schrifttum ausfiillen, und - rein inhaltlich gesehen - eine Stellung zwischen diesen beiden Gruppen von Lehrbiichern einnehmen. Dieser Zielsetzung wurde in folgender Weise Rechnung getragen: 1. Das gewahlte Stoffgebiet wird, unter voller Wahrung wissenschaft- Hcher Strenge, elementar behandelt und kann mit durchschnittlichen mathematischen Kenntnissen erarbeitet werden. 2. Die Bearbeitung umfaBt unter Zuhilfenahme von Analogiebetrach- tungen viele Bereiche der Schwingungstechnik und bietet so dem Leser einen weiten "Oberblick iiber schwingungstechnische Fragen.
