Thank You Father, Thank You Dad is about a boy who sees his dad in his bedroom kneeling down with his head bowed and praying. But Jonathan the son thinks he's just talking out loud because he doesn't see anyone in the room. Jonathan peeks into the door and asks his dad who he is talking to. He's very curious. He is at the age where he wants to know about everything and he expects his dad to tell him. Jonathan thinks his dad is a super-terrific father, who knows everything. He wants to be like him and do things that he does. Jonathan looks to his dad to give him all the answers to his questions so he can be as terrific as his dad is.
His dad tells him that he was praying to God. Jonathan wants to know who God is and if he can pray to God like him. This encounter opens up a beautiful and fulfilling relationship between the dad and the son. They share personal and intimate time together exchanging questions and answers. This draws them into a spiritual connection and it reveals a heavenly love of a father to his son. Their dialog expresses emotions from excitement to tears and from tickles to warm hugs. They show to each other respect, honor and a great deal of emotional security. Because the son trust that his dad will tell him everything he wants to know. His dad realizes that his son is deserving of an explanation in his quest for answers and that brings out more interesting and important ways to build character and trust in both the dad and son.
This book is meant to be a tool to motivate parents to share their faith in God with their sons and daughters as early as possible in their youth. To open up an occasion for quality time to inspire and encourage biblical teachings of who God is and how important it is to know God personally through prayer and dedication. It's also a means for building intimacy in family social time that involves spiritual involvement that leads to praying together, studying Bible verses, learning new words that are meaningful for growth and development. There are many ways the book uses repetition for forming thought patterns to remember biblical terminology for foundational groundwork. The story itself has the dialog pattern of asking a question and getting an answer with illustrations that are verbal and in full color illustrations. This is to enhance cognitive awareness. There is a glossary to refer back for terminology and meaning of words. A word search puzzle for fun and intellectual aptitude. Bible Scriptures to encourage in-depth thinking for decision making and Bible study. It's a great gift for any occasion and to share during family time or Christian education study.
