Self-taught, she spent time rigorously studying the works and techniques of trained and accomplished embroiderers, as well visiting museums, exhibitions and participating in conferences on embroidery, in order to improve her abilities. The Belgian designer has since received the title of Master Embroiderer, and is a best-selling embroidery author in Europe, writing 28 practical books in French. When she's not writing or creating commissioned work, she shares her techniques and thoughts via her blog, suarezmarie.canalblog.com, or sells her designs and the works of other established embroiderers via her website, mariesuarez.com.

Marie lives in Beersel, Brabant in Belgium.
