The Artist And His Mission: A Study In Aesthetics is a book written by William McClellan Reily in 1881. The book explores the role and purpose of the artist in society and their responsibility to create works that not only possess aesthetic value but also serve a greater purpose. Reily argues that artists have a mission to use their talents to uplift and inspire society, and that their works should reflect this goal. The book delves into the philosophical and ethical implications of the artist's role, and examines the relationship between art and morality. Reily draws on a range of historical and contemporary examples to illustrate his arguments, and provides a comprehensive overview of the aesthetic theories of his time. The Artist And His Mission is a thought-provoking and insightful work that continues to be relevant to contemporary debates on the role of art in society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
