Their mission is to hunt down a bandit gang led by the cunning Joaquin Cahuenga. The bandits have infested the Bullion Road in California's Mojave Desert. The road is the lifeline for the miners of the Owens Valley and critical to the economic growth of the young and burgeoning Pueblo de Los Angeles. Romance and action follow the trio as they face a vigilante mob in Los Angeles and ride with a 20-mule-team freight convoy in the remote desert. Comfort sets a trap for the bandits, and the story culminates in a wild gunfight with the Cahuenga Gang.

Douglas S. Santo is an engineering geologist, photographer, and author. He was founder, president, and CEO of Arroyo Geotechnical and has served as principal and vice president at three other consulting firms. He has photographed major architectural works ranging from the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to private residential structures. His photographs have appeared in magazines, books, calendars, websites, and a variety of promotional materials for corporate clients of all sizes. He is the author of Three Days in Highgrade, the first book of the three volume Tom Comfort Series. The author is a third generation Californian, born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, which he still calls home. He lives with his wife and four cats.
