Mary Epsom uses her years of experience as a much-loved Nairobi kindergarten teacher to ensure that every chapter is interesting and educational.
Born in Rio Tinto, near Huelva in Spain and married in Gibraltar in 1946, Mary moved to Nairobi in 1950. Mary and her husband Bryan had three sons, Paul was the youngest. A Froebel Foundation trained teacher, she started a kindergarten in Nairobi and eventually owned and managed three kindergartens with a combined capacity of 400 pupils. In 1973, with five other Headmistresses, the Kindergarten Headmistresses' Association was formed and in 1977 the Teacher Training section went into action. 60 years of experience in early education and teacher training was recognised by President Uhuru Kenyatta with the highest civilian award of Chief of the Burning Spear [CBS] in 2017. Mary draws on her experiences with young children to fill the book with interesting anecdotes that will entertain children and their families. The book is dedicated to Paul's Memory.
