The global environmental future is a matter of major scientific and public importance. Neil Roberts is Professor at the University of Plymouth, UK. He is author of The Holocene: an Environmental History (Blackwell, 1989). His research interests are environmental history, with special reference to lake sediment systems. He is currently working on East African rift lakes, the Middle Atlas of Morocco, and Southwest Turkey.
