In his edgy and compelling thriller The China Puzzle, author Robert J. Kaplan introduces us to the fascinating minds and corridors of the CIA and the highly complex world of international bio-terrorism. With heart-stopping conflict, Jake Jacobs leads his anti-terrorist team through a labyrinth of encrypted messages and the threat of biological warfare, the tension level ratcheted even higher by the overwhelming likelihood that enemy agents have infiltrated Washington and are pulling strings in very high places. With the tension of a Baldacci thriller and the character development of LeCarré, the author catapults the reader into a tale of espionage and potential devastation that strikes us as both plausible and terrifying.

Robert Kaplan was the Director of Real Estate at the corporate offices of a major defense aerospace company with annual sales in excess of $32 Billion where he worked for twenty-seven years before retiring in 2006. For the last twenty-five years of his employment at Northrop he held a Department of Defense top-secret clearance. His position allowed him access to parts of our government and military that are rarely seen or understood by ordinary citizens. He also had the opportunity to observe some of the most advanced and sensitive hardware platforms and software systems being produced for the government. These unique life experiences serve as a basis for The China Puzzle. While the work is fiction the government agencies are authentic adding a thread of realism throughout the novel. Robert Kaplan was born in Detroit, Michigan. He received his BS in Management from California State University at Long Beach and a law degree from the University of West Los Angeles.
