""The Critic Or A Tragedy Rehearsed"" is a play written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, first performed in 1779. The play is a satire of the theatre and its critics, following the story of a group of actors who are rehearsing a new play but are constantly interrupted by a pompous and clueless critic named Mr. Puff. Throughout the play, Mr. Puff offers his opinions and suggestions on how the play should be performed, despite having no experience in the theatre. His comments are often nonsensical and contradictory, causing chaos and confusion among the actors. The play also includes a subplot involving a love triangle between the lead actress, her lover, and a rival actor who is jealous of their relationship.
