The Dyad is an exploratory dive into the world of speculative fiction in both its celebrated avatars: science fiction and fantasy.

Spanning three novelettes and ten short stories, the Dyad is a collection of tales set in the future and the past, the mundane and the unexpected, the known and the unknown.

Thirteen stories, thirteen worlds, thirteen speculations into the true nature of the Universe. Tales that travel through time, space and dimensions. A collection of eight science fiction and five fantasy tales put together, that enthral and captivate with its richly imagined tapestry of speculative fiction.

About The Author

Amitav Misra, a.k.a. Tabhu, is an emerging writer of literary and speculative fiction based in Gurgaon, India. Born in New Delhi to an artist mother and a scientist father, he spent his early childhood in Tokyo, Japan, before growing up amid the historic ruins of Delhi’s Mehrauli Archaeological Park. These contrasting worlds sparked his lifelong fascination with science fiction, fantasy, and storytelling.

After studying science in school, Amitav chose advertising over engineering and began his career in Calcutta as a creative apprentice. Over the next two and a half decades, he worked with some of India’s top advertising agencies and leading blue-chip brands as a writer and creative director, winning several national and international awards, including Cannes Lions. His television commercials and print campaigns have been published worldwide.

Alongside advertising, Amitav explored multiple creative pursuits—from working with one of India’s first internet agencies and a news television channel to co-founding an original music event in Delhi, experimenting with a beer startup, and creating posters, album covers, and music videos for bands. His latest AI-driven music video was screened at the Global AI Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.

His debut book, Roadside Tales (2022), is a collection of gonzo-style flash fiction inspired by his adventures on Indian roads. His second book, The Dyad, explores speculative fiction through stories rooted in themes such as humanity, technology, racism, civilisation, and the nature of reality.

Amitav is currently developing screenplay projects and working on a forthcoming collection of poetry.
