Akbar indisputably occupies the first place among the rulers of Hindustan. He is remembered as a great king who conquered and then protected Hindus. Not only was he equally great as a man, a warrior, and a statesman, but his reign fell at a time fitted to afford the free-est play to his eminent qualities. In India, the 16th century was impregnate with energy ; in it great political issues were brought out and at the same time, in all the provinces of social and intellectual life there was an outburst of vigour and activity which well corresponded to its gigantic external revolutions. The history of this period, therefore, assumes great importance and stimulates interest. The book examines in detail the life and reign of Akbar. It is written in such a style that it is intelligible to the ordinary readers and serves as original literature to the serious students and research scholars. We have planned to bring out reprints of all the classical works on History of India. We have already released a number of them and others are in process and would be released soon.
