In The Gift of Work, Tibetan master Tarthang Tulku offers a vision of work as a genuine and fulfilling spiritual path, one that can be walked by anyone and integrated deeply into daily life. Introducing this approach (which Tarthang Tulku calls Skillful Means), the text is filled with practical methods for developing awareness, opening to change, and sharing our life and insights with others. Twenty-four exercises help us see the attitudes we bring to work and encourage appreciation, concentration, and whole-hearted engagement.

Previously published as Skillful Means.

Tulku, Tarthang: - "

Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche is a teacher and author in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in 1935 in eastern Tibet, Rinpoche was trained by many of the greatest Tibetan Buddhist masters of the twentieth century. After leaving Tibet in 1958, Tarthang Tulku taught at Sanskrit University in Varanasi, India, and began reprinting endangered Tibetan sacred texts. In 1968, he moved to the United States, where he has lived and worked ever since. Rinpoche has founded more than 20 organizations, preserving and promoting Buddhist wisdom both in Asia and in the West. A pioneer in communicating the wisdom of his tradition to secular audiences, he is the author of over two dozen books, including Gesture of Balance; Time, Space, and Knowledge - A New Vision of Reality; Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga; Revelations of Mind, and Gesture of Great Love.
