About The Book

The Greylock by Georg Ebers is a historical novel set in Germany during the 16th century. The story follows the life of a young man named Wolf, who is the son of a nobleman. Wolf is sent to the University of Wittenberg to study law, but he becomes interested in the teachings of Martin Luther and becomes a Protestant. This puts him at odds with his Catholic family and the ruling powers of the time.As Wolf becomes more involved in the Protestant movement, he meets a woman named Ursula, who is also a Protestant. They fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by the religious and political tensions of the time. The couple is forced to flee to the mountains, where they join a group of rebels who are fighting against the Catholic rulers.The novel is filled with action, romance, and political intrigue. Ebers does an excellent job of bringing the historical period to life, and the characters are well-developed and engaging. The Greylock is a thrilling read that will appeal to fans of historical fiction and anyone interested in the history of the Protestant Reformation.The knight was no antiquary, but as he looked about him his curiosity was excited: ""What can have happened here?"" he said, and his squire wondered also, and followed his master. The latter led his horse to the edge of the water to let him drink, for though he had seen many watercourses in the land, he had found nothing in them save stones, and boulders, and sand.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
