He's the author of The Hexatonic Soul Scale: An Alternative to the Blues Scale for the Novice Jazz Improvisor, the Jermaine series and The Cadre. Jacob's interest in jazz sparked in the 8th grade when he heard the Brackenridge High School Stage Band perform. Later, he got the opportunity to study jazz piano, composing and arranging with legendary jazz pianist Dr. James Polk while attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Dr. James Polk was also the former musical director for Ray Charles.After college, Jacob served 7 years in the US Army Band as a trumpeter and later got into screenwriting after studying acting at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California. After studying screenwriting, Jacob enrolled in the school's film producing program.
