At first, Arthur believes the work will be no more than an unpleasant commission. But each lock he opens reveals something more disturbing than the last. A nursery abandoned in fear. A chapel where no prayers seem to have been answered. A flooded cellar that should not still be wet. A bedroom marked by fire. A mirror room that reflects things which are not there. Every room contains a fragment of a disappearance, a death, or a hidden crime, and each discovery draws Arthur deeper into the manor's history.

As the house begins to change around him, Arthur realises the locked rooms are not merely preserving the past. They are feeding on it. Footsteps move through empty halls. Doors close by themselves. Voices whisper from rooms he has already opened. The dead do not rest here, and the house itself seems to understand guilt, memory, and punishment.
