The Indian Muse in English Garb (1876) by Behramji Malabari is a collection of poetry written in English, offering a unique blend of Indian cultural themes and Western literary styles. The work explores India's social issues, particularly focusing on the plight of women, and reflects Malabari's progressive views on social reform. The collection was dedicated to Mary Carpenter, a British social reformer, whom Malabari met during her visit to India. Through this book, Malabari aimed to bridge the cultural gap between India and the West, while promoting the idea of women's rights and social justice.

Behramji Malabari (1853-1912) was a Parsee journalist and writer who played a pivotal role in advocating for women's social reform and suffrage in India. He was a strong supporter of Hindu widow rights and was instrumental in the Rukhmabai case of 1885, which highlighted the issue of child marriage. His editorials and activism helped lead to the 1891 Age of Consent Act. Malabari's travels to Britain in 1890 resulted in the publication of The Indian Eye on English Life (1893), where he offered critiques of British society, including a special chapter on women's rights in the Indian edition.
