Set against jazz clubs, underground printing presses, canal-side flower markets, and the meticulous human machinery of resistance, this novel asks: what does a person become when their whole architecture of survival was built on the premise that love was a resource too finite to spend - and someone, with patient and deliberate attention, proves them wrong?
