Plick's newest release, The Lingering Shadow, asserts that while childhood trauma can have a long-lasting impact on an individual, an individual can break from the cycle of negative self-perception, self-blame, and self-destructive behavior by addressing the trauma at its root.

In The Lingering Shadow, Linda combines her faith, personal experiences, and science to create a new way to treat and heal. According to her strategy using the power of neuroplasticity, the brain can adapt and change by creating new neurons and new networks to break out of "autopilot" responses.

The message of her book isn't to share and commiserate on traumatic events - but to show how fear and trauma associated with these events promote unhealthy emotional responses which become a person's mindset well into adulthood. When we create new neurons and networks, we're able to escape this cycle of pain, misery, and suffering.

About The Author

Plick, Linda H.: - Linda's career and professional achievements span decades of loving service. First career was working 35 years with the City of Los Angeles. After retirement in 2003, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Dependency and Substance Abuse with an emphasis in Addiction and followed it up with Master's degrees in Biblical Studies and Addiction Counseling. Finally, she became a Doctor of Ministry in Professional Faith-Based Biblical Counseling.Linda is a professional faith-based biblical counselor who dedicated over 30 years to serving in children's ministry at her church. After retiring, she continued to teach Bible classes in the after-school public schools program and volunteered at Challenger Memorial Youth Prison Center. She also worked at the Behavioral Health Services-South Bay Recovery Center as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Addiction Specialist until her retirement in June 2022.
