A Children's Story written by Richard A. Corey. Originally it was a just a poem written in the late 70s to early 80s. This book reflects the joys of his childhood when he had kept bees and fuzzy caterpillars and others of nature's small creatures as pets! It was while reflecting upon this part of his life that he composed the poem "The Little Spider in my Shoe". Which then in his later years after some prompting from his family he started the endeavor to publish the story/poem in a children's book format. The book has wonderful illustrations by Robin Birrell. A very talented artist he met through his church. She did an absolutely beautiful job of interpreting the story within the poem. There's an underlying morale to the story which teaches us to be accepting of all of God's creations. Where Richard grew up in the Territory of Alaska (It wasn't a state at the time) rollicking in the wooded areas surrounding the small railroad stops where he lived as his father worked for the Alaska Railroad. There were plenty of small creatures to fascinate and inspire him! Living in a Quonset hut or whatever living accommodations were provided by the Alaska Railroad the outdoors became the private studio from which he derived many stories in his later recollections of his life in Alaska. He was greatly influenced by poets like Robert Service and Robert Frost who wrote a lot of material about living in the Yukon and Alaska gold rush days.
