About The Book

The Present book "Martyrs of Jharkhand" is an important chapter in the history of Jharkhand. The learned writer has not only gathered primary information about these martyrs by going to their areas but also collected necessary knowledge from the archives of several States and Commissionaires to establish their actual history. This effort is clearly reflected in the book. The previous writers had termed these incidents as insurrection which had been against Hindus, money lenders, contractors, landlords, but opposing rule which he has presented through factual analysis and indepth review along with historical proof. After two decades of Company Govt., for the first time, the tribals stood up in revolt against its wrong revenue policy pertaining to water, forests and land which had hurt the economic, social and religious feelings of the tribals. The writer has effectively revealed the history of the renouncement and sacrifices of these martyrs who have been the victim of anonymity in the freedom struggle. This book is fit to be compiled by all individuals and institutions having interest in the history of tribals or Jharkhand.
