The Miser is a play written by the French playwright, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, also known as Moli�����re. The play was first performed in 1668 and is considered one of Moli�����re's most famous works. The story revolves around the character of Harpagon, a wealthy but miserly old man who values his money more than anything else in the world.Harpagon is so obsessed with his wealth that he refuses to spend any of it, even on his own children. He plans to marry his daughter off to a wealthy old man, despite her objections, in order to secure a large dowry. Meanwhile, he is also planning to marry himself to a young woman, much to the dismay of his son.As the story unfolds, Harpagon's greed and selfishness lead to a series of comical mishaps and misunderstandings. His children hatch a plan to steal his hidden treasure, while his scheming servants try to take advantage of his miserly ways.The Miser is a satirical comedy that pokes fun at the obsession with wealth and material possessions.
