The New Comedy presents itself as an ambitious narrative and spiritual journey, a work that, while rooted in Dante's model, finds its own voice and its own path in the contemporary world. Organized in three volumes - The Damned, The Redeemed and The Righteous - the trilogy ideally retraces the stages of the great medieval poem, translating them into a new vision that questions today's man about his faults, his possibilities for redemption and his yearning for transcendence.
In the first volume, The Damned, the reader is immersed in a dark and suffocating universe, populated by figures who embody the vices, obsessions and drifts of modernity. Here the condemnation is not only otherworldly, but takes the form of daily despair: loneliness, alienation and invisible chains that bind the human being to his personal hell. The work does not indulge in the grotesque, but restores with severe lucidity the dimension of guilt and the moral abyss.
This is followed by The Redeemed, where the tone becomes different: no longer the pain without escape, but the slow path of purification. It is the book of hope and fatigue, in which the characters - symbolic and at the same time profoundly human - confront the weight of their mistakes and look for a way back. The narrative here takes on a tone of penance and catharsis, reflecting on the possibility of change, on the dignity of inner struggle and on the value of forgiveness.
Finally, in The Righteous, the perspective opens up to the light. The last volume is that of vision, contemplation and beatitude. However, it is not a na�ve paradise or a simple consolation: beatitude is presented as an arduous conquest, as a landing place that arises from the crossing of pain and perseverance in goodness. The images become luminous, the word rises, and the journey culminates in a dimension of harmony, where man can finally intuit the echo of the eternal.
The entire trilogy is therefore configured as a new cartography of the soul, which constantly dialogues with Dante without slavishly imitating him: the language is contemporary, but the symbolic structure is universal; the structure is allegorical, but the questions touch on the anxieties and hopes of the present. The New Comedy thus becomes a bridge: between past and future, between poetry and philosophy, between the weight of the human and the search for the divine.
