I am an American citizen, and he is from Japan. We met via an international dating app. From the time we were matched, we became inseparable. We talked every chance we got. Our relationship grew to the point that we started discussing marriage.

Getting him to join me in the United States was not a road paved with gold. We had to jump through some serious hurdles - emotionally, relationally, financially, and legally. In the end, it all paid off as we are very much happily married!

Our story may have once seemed untraditional, even odd, but in the digital world of the modern internet, our type of relationship is fast becoming more mainstream.

In this book, I will tell you what we experienced together. I'll discuss with you what our first face-to-face meeting was like, what legal and immigration concerns we had to deal with, and how to apply for a fiancé visa. I consider myself a romantic but also a realist. We'll candidly discuss the precautions to take when endeavoring upon an international relationship. I will also provide you with advice regarding marriage brokers, international matchmaking services, and dating apps or websites.

Overall, I share with you my advice as I have been there, done that with regards to marrying a foreign national. I will tell you all about the challenges we face, but I also want to impart some hope to you through our successes.

I also wanted to include two special demographic groups as an important part of discussing overseas relationships - the LGBT community and those who may be older singles. Here, you can find extensive information about how to navigate the intricacies of these two diverse groups.

At the end of the book are some appendices which list valuable information about agencies, groups, and businesses related to immigration law, dating sites, wedding planners, foreign matchmaking services, and support for those in long-distance relationships, LGBT dating sites, advocacy groups, and dating sites for the older single person.
