Topical areas include electrolytes and the role of acid-base and their part in maintaining homeostasis; oxygenation and alterations in the respiratory system; hematologic disorders and the disease process of coronary artery disease and angina; and perfusion disorders and the disease processes related to perfusion. Additional chapters address a myriad of alterations, including cardiac, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, renal, endocrine, musculoskeletal, sensory, and neurological alterations. Diabetes mellitus and perioperative nursing are covered. The revised first edition includes an entirely new chapter on pharmacology.

Davis, Cheryl: - Dr. Cheryl Davis, DNP, MSN, RN is a nursing instructor, has served as clinical coordinator, and currently serves as the faculty advisor to the Student Nurse Association at Triton College. She is also an adjunct professor for the RN to BSN Program at Benedictine University. She holds an online master of teaching certificate from the University of Illinois, a doctorate of nursing practice and M.S. of nursing education from Walden University, a B.S. in health care leadership from National Louis University, and she is a National League for Nursing-certified nurse educator.
