About The Book

""The Parlor Car"" is a novel written by William Dean Howells, an American author and literary critic. The story follows the journey of a group of passengers traveling on a train from Boston to Chicago in the late 19th century. The main character, Basil March, is a young man who befriends a wealthy businessman named Mr. Elbridge, who is also on the train. Throughout the journey, Basil and Mr. Elbridge engage in a series of conversations about various topics, including politics, society, and culture. They are joined by other passengers, including a young couple on their honeymoon, a group of college students, and a retired judge. As the train makes its way across the country, the passengers confront their own personal struggles and reflect on the changing world around them.
