Susie Levee is living the life of a servant in her own home. A forgotten injury causing her to use a crutch, she is bullied both at home and in town. Princess Violet is the sole heir to the throne and the self-proclaimed "Children's Princess," focusing her duties on the kingdom's children. When a chance encounter with the local bully brings the two girls together, Violet decides to make a project of Susie, teaching her things about life that the younger girl didn't even know existed. As the two girls grow closer, details about eight-year-old Susie's past come to light, some of which she only subconsciously remembers. The fact that many of the details are concerned with her brother, Tommy, and her parents, leads to an investigation involving the whole royal family. Meanwhile, Susie is getting to live at the castle and make friends, something she has been forbidden to do for years. She knows that she isn't going home after Christmas, but she isn't sure she's ready to fit into her new home. She can't help but wonder what this Christmas will bring. Told in the classic style that has endeared children of countless generations, this Cinderella-style story of friendship and sisterhood will delight girls of any age.

Heidi Konow published her first book (this one) less than a month after graduating from Pasco High School in Dade City, FL. She enjoys writing and many of the old-fashioned activities women did from day to day: knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She likes to listen to records and play with her bunny, Kelly. She has participated in Arts in Motion in the past and hopes to become involved again in the future. One of her articles has been published in the local newspaper and her main goal in life is to one day get married and have kids.
