This book features selected papers from the 11th Asia-Oceania Symposium on Fire Science and Technology (AOSFST 2018), held in Taipei, Taiwan. Covering the entire spectrum of fire safety science, it focuses on research on fires, explosions, combustion science, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, risk analysis and structural engineering, as well as other topics. Presenting advanced scientific insights, the book introduces and advances new ideas in all areas of fire safety science. As such it is a valuable resource for academic researchers, fire safety engineers, and regulators of fire, construction and safety authorities. Further it provides new ideas for more efficient fire protection.


Guan-Yuan Wu is a professor of the Department and Graduate School of Fire Science at Central Police University, Taiwan. His research interests include fire science and technology, and structural analysis.

Kuang-Chung Tsai is a professor at National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology. His research interests include fire safety engineering, building codes, and investigation of fire accidents.

Wan-Ki Chow is the Chair Professor of Architectural Science and Fire Engineering, Department of Building Services Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was elected to be a Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences in December 2012; and appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2013.
