The Push for African-Centered Education engages with Black identity in the United States. It offers ideas for inclusion of Black identity in the high school setting and curricula. It can be useful for educators of any ethnic, cultural or racial background working to improve understanding of Black identity among multicultural adolescents.

With professional background in both social work and secondary school education, "Dr. Cass" has worked with multicultural adolescents for the past fifteen years. After surviving her own rebellious teenagedom as a child of Haitian immigrants to the United States, Dr. Cass elected to uncover more about her heritage while a university student in upstate New York. It was only then, that the future Howard University Ph.D. in African Studies would be exposed to positive examples of her cultural heritage. She has since set on a course in multicultural education, teaching methods to have learners value their heritage using culturally-relevant curricula. Dr. Cass has traveled the world in this regard, most recently teaching at a secondary boarding school in Rwanda and lecturing at the University of Witwatersrand School of Education as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to South Africa. She aims to found an urban charter high school and serve as principal.
