Pauline Emma Pierce writes under the name "Emma Pierce". Her first book, published in 1984, is the autobiography of the author's recovery from mental illness. A passionate desire to see authentic mental health recognised and brought to authenticity in the arena of treatment for mental illness has driven this author's works for many years. She has written several books on this subject, mostly non fiction, but a couple in the mode of fiction for reasons that become apparent to the reader. Her last book "Suicide or Adoration" represented her doctoral thesis converted into a book for less academic readers - more for general consumption.
