This book is about the range of tactics which child abusers use to silence their victims----anything from a non-verbal glare, verbal threats, to outright murder. This book is a work of non-fiction. The author has interviewed abuse victims of domestic violence, child abuse, rape, bullying, stalking, and human trafficking. The para-phrased accounts in this book have come from transcriptions of live interviews conducted for research purposes. In order to protect the abuse survivors' privacy, no actual names or locations will be used. Relevant validation quotes are included after most of the Survivor's statements. Unless otherwise indicated these quotes are from Anonymous authors. This book is intended to be a resource for Counseling & Psychology students, Law Enforcement, Victims' Advocates, School Personnel, And Parents.

About The Author

Terri Austin, Ph.D., J.D. received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from the Saybrook Research Institute and Graduate School in San Francisco, CA; and a Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern California School of Law in Sacramento. She has graduate & undergraduate degrees in Counseling, and Administration of Justice. Dr. Austin has been an educator for 34 years, and is also a Criminology researcher, and Adjunct Faculty at various educational facilities Nationwide. She also provides trainings on Child Abuse and various forensic-type topics for law enforcement and school personnel, and is a victims' advocate for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. Dr. Austin has worked in programs for incarcerated juveniles and minimum-security adult prison inmates. While pursuing her education, she served as a Reserve Police Officer and was a volunteer at a County Coroner's Office. She has professional Certification in Death Notification. Dr. Austin's first book, Unfair Advantage: Sexual Abuse by Psychotherapists, Priests, & Police was published in 2006.
