They used to call him Billy the Kid.

That is the name that would strike fear into the hearts of anyone who considered America an enemy. The Kremlin, MI5, and Mossad all have files on the young man who became one of America's greatest spies.

Then, Billy the Kid vanishes without a trace.

The truth of the matter is that William "Billy" Wright is sick of spy craft. Ever since he joined the US Army as a young man, he has been fighting on the front lines of the Cold War. Wright longs to retire to a quiet life with his beloved wife, Nicola. After erasing his history at the world's major intelligence agencies, Wright gets his wish. He and Nicola settle down in Tampa, Florida. Wright is happy to work for Delta while Nicola becomes the globetrotter in the family through her job as a stewardess with Pan Am.

After wedded bliss, Wright's life changes again. Nicola's plane explodes over the Gulf of Mexico, and Wright discovers that he was the terrorists' true target. To get vengeance for his wife and track down his old enemies, Wright rejoins the US Army. Billy the Kid is about to ride again.

Author L. A. Wiggins was only seventeen when he joined the US Army and shipped off to West Germany. The year was 1964 and Wiggins, an inexperienced farm boy, found life close to the Iron Curtain a completely different world than what he was used to. He used these experiences as inspiration for The Spy Who Wanted Back In.
