He was editor and publisher of the acclaimed literary journal Shabkhoon, and is the author of a landmark four-volume study of the poet Mir Taqi Mir and a collection of short fiction Savar aur Doosre Afsane. His other works include the highly acclaimed novel, The Mirror of Beauty, which was translated from the Urdu Kai Chand the Sar-e-asman by the author himself.
