In the nearly 300 informative pages of this work, author and Newspaper columnist, Joe Urbach, reveals what the government and media do not want you to know: Modern fruits and vegetables are not as nutritious as they once were! In chapter after informative chapter Joe will breakdown the causes of the problem, help us to understand the breath and scope of the problem, and then offer suggestions on how we can overcome the problem! You will see how to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others: -We can buy organic produce -We can shop at farmer's markets -We can take advantage of food synergy -We can avoid GMO and processed foods -We can insist on sustainable agriculture -We can employ composting and vermiculture at home, and insist on it in our communities (such as at schools, churches, etc.) -We can grow our own phytonutrient rich varieties of fruits and vegetables in well maintained, compost-rich, super healthy soil -We can learn better ways to cook our foods -We can learn to break through the misleading labels we find on food packages Industrial agriculture promised, for years now, that they will save us, but why should we believe that industrial farming could be our savior when the mess we need saving from is a result of their actions and the collusion of the Federal Government? Since the dawn of the industrial age we have been fed lies about how industrial farming will end hunger, but hunger has only increased. We have been promised better living through chemistry for over half a century, but all we have gotten is widespread death and disease from chemicals, the eradication of native plants and animals, overflowing landfills packed with needless packaging waste, and a planet as unhealthy as its citizens. We all are implicated in the destruction of our planet, the eradication of countless species of plants and animals, and the deterioration of the health of our own species. Industrial farming may have played a huge part, but only because we have allowed it to do so. Now is the time to take matters into our own hands and work together to make a better world for generations to come... Before it is too late! There is a great disconnect in the mind of the American people between our food and the land from which it comes. We all must in some ways get back in touch with nature. We can still enjoy the benefits of a modern society, but letting every decision that is made for us by multinational corporations go unchallenged is signing our own death warrant. How and why did this happen? What can we do about it? Most importantly, how can we ensure that we have access to the best, the most healthy, most nutritious fruits and vegetables possible? In this book, Joe Urbach, creator and publisher of the website www.GardeningAustin.com and of the wildly popular Phytonutrient Blog answers those questions and more while providing gardeners with a wealth of information including which specific varieties of your favorites to grow to get the biggest nutritional bang for your gardening buck! "In this series, Joe presents CRITICAL information that everyone needs but very few have!" - J.D. Merrill, M.D. "In his easy to read and understand way, Joe delivers page after fact filled page of insightful information that will truly change lives for the better!" - Max Boyle, R.D. Nutritionist, and Personal Trainer "This information is going to help me teach my children to live healthier! What more could a Mom ask!" - Phoebe Swan, Mother of three preschoolers Filled with fascinating details about the state of modern produce and backed by state-of-the-art research and scientific testing, this useful book will change your life by changing how you look at produce. Read just a few pages and you will change the way you garden, the way you buy groceries, the way you store your produce and even the way you cook your meals! Changes all for the better! Leading to a healthier, more active and longer

Joe Urbach is the creator/publisher of GardeningAustin.com and the wildly popular Phytonutrient Blog. He has lived and worked in the Central Texas area for over 30 years. He and his wife Holly are the parents of five children and grandparents of two beautiful boys. For the last twelve years he has concentrated his efforts on installing many raised bed and container gardens in Texas homes all over Austin and San Antonio. As a gardener, as a father and as a grandfather Joe is very concerned about the quality of the food that ends up on all of our dining tables and really loves being able to help people get their own Raised Bed Phytonutrient Gardens started. Joe is a certified Texas Master Gardener and is currently serving as the Director of Training for the Hays County Chapter of the Texas Master Gardener Association. He teaches and lectures on gardening regularly and can often be found speaking at local nurseries, libraries, garden Clubs, Extension offices, or on radio and podcasts. While still very much the advocate for a "kitchen garden in every home" Joe now finds that his focus is set on changing the way we all think about our food - be it from our kitchen gardens, farmers' markets or the local supermarkets. Joe developed the concept of being a Phytonutrient Gardener which simply means, "if you are growing a vegetable in your garden why not grow the variety that packs the biggest nutritional value!?" Joe has recently launched an online business offering 100% Organic, NON-GMO, hand-harvested and hand packed seeds for many of the phytonutrient-rich varieties he recommends in his books and lectures. Check it out at www.PhytonutrientFarms.com. Joe has become a phytonutrient gardener and wants us all to come along for the journey to a better, healthier, longer and much more active and productive life!
