At night, Vegetarian Polar Bears invade the Village of MeCold, near the Bear Sleeping Sand Dune, near the Lake of Crystals, in the County of WeCold. At night when all the Cold Ones are sleeping the Polar Bears eat the Cold One's noses. The nose less bring back the Snow Puppies to scare away the Polar Bears. The Snow Puppies paw and claw, snuggle and roll, crawl and climb all over the Vegetarian Polar Bears until they run in fear out of the Village of MeCold. The Cold Ones send for Dr. Carsel and Dr. Pumpkinhead, vegetable salesmen and surgeons from the Village of MeSick. The Vegetable Surgeons replace all of the missing and damaged noses. Now, whole again, the Cold Ones all celebrate with a Return of the Noses celebration.

Page, Gregory: - Winter in Michigan provided glorious mounds of snow in my youth for snow forts, snowballs, snowmen and snowwomen, and many snow sculptures. These early times were an inspiration for the Cold Ones characters in this book and in two additional books of The Great Snowstorm series, "The Great Snowstorm" and "Invasion of the Snow Puppies". With love for the outdoors, I spent much of my free time with winter sports and summers in the water, in the woods and on the sand dunes of Lake Michigan. This love of the outdoors led me into studies of Landscape Architecture in my early college days at Michigan State University. The studies stressed design in the environmental relationships, the ecosystems of plant communities and the balance of all natural things. Once drafted during the Vietnam War, I worked in army illustration at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Using the GI Bill, I was fortunate to continue my studies at the University of Michigan and graduated with additional degrees in Architecture. This profession led to employment in Illinois, Florida, and California designing land plans and architecture.
