Two offworld species, disturbingly human and alltogether alien. How do twenty-first century humans react when confronted with comparable intelligence residing in "their" solar system? Microbiologist Tandra Grey finds new hope for an ailing Earth and her own future when she makes first contact with alien neighors too intelligent, too nosy, and too near to ignore.

"A fine multi-cultural, multi-species First Contact along with a siren call to stop 'trashing our planet' in pursuit of profit and status. Bravo!"
-Science fiction author T. Jackson King, on Goodreads.com

"Cary Neeper has created not one but two credible non-human species.... It's an engrossing first novel."
Psychology Today, New York, on the original 1975 release

The first novel in Cary Neeper's Archives of Varok series, The View Beyond Earth is an update of Neeper's 1975 science fiction classic, A Place Beyond Man. The story reimagines the 21st Century Solar System as Tandra Grey, the elll Conn, and the varok Orram disentangle the alien from the familiar to reach the embattled human population, and each other. Their travels continue from Earth to the Oort Cloud, with several stops in-between, in Nautilus silver medalist The Webs of Varok and its sequel The Alien Effect.

Cary Neeper raised her daughters in the US Southwest with her husband and a friendly menagerie of dogs, fish and fowl. An avid proponent of sustainability and steady-state economics since the 1970s, she studied zoology, chemistry and religion at Pomona College and medical microbiology at the U. Wisconsin - Madison. Cary paints landscapes in acrylics, including the cover art for The Archives of Varok.
