The Voyage of Sir Henry Middleton to Bantam and the Maluco Islands is a historical account of the journey undertaken by Sir Henry Middleton, an English navigator and explorer, in the early 17th century. The book was originally published in 1855 and is written by Middleton himself. The narrative begins with the departure of Middleton and his crew from England in 1604, on board the ship the ""Oath"". The journey takes them through the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Indian Ocean, as they make their way towards the Spice Islands of Indonesia. Along the way, they encounter various challenges, including storms, disease, and hostile encounters with other ships.Once they arrive in Bantam, a major trading port in Java, Middleton establishes diplomatic relations with the local rulers and begins trading for spices. From there, he sets sail for the Maluco Islands, where he continues to trade and establish relationships with the local people. Throughout the book, Middleton provides detailed descriptions of the places he visits, the people he meets, and the products he trades. He also includes observations on the customs and traditions of the local populations, as well as his own thoughts and reflections on the journey.
