Its pages discuss in detail, some of the demons, ghosts and life-essence stealers, who inhabit London's netherworld and call it their home.Along with some original photographs relevant to the tales being told, it deals exclusively with that hugely haunted area of London known as the West End. In it, readers will find spine-chilling stories about hideous and malevolent tree-hanging soul stealers, a ghostly duchess with a very important message and other fascinating tales about the West End's many restless souls, who are doomed to haunt forever, the place of their tragic and often violent deaths. Paradoxically, as with life, so with ghost stories and there is indeed nothing new under the sun with respect to the tales told. Many, if not all of these stories have been told and retold by interpreters of the spirit world over many decades, if not centuries.My specific aim here, apart from telling these stories in what I hope is a new, entertaining and instructive way, is to contrast and compare the different versions of them that have been written over the years. In doing this, I hope to enable readers to consider, discuss and maybe even investigate the stories for themselves, as they examine their histories, their contradictions and their facts, or the lack off them, hence the heroically sized bibliography.

I have always been fascinated by the supernatural, including unexplained paranormal events, hauntings, folklore and Gothic horror. This has resulted in the creation of my three other already published books, The Whitby Ghost Book, Christmas Customs of Old Whitby and When Dracula Met the Jabberwocky, the first two of which, I wrote when I conducted ghost walks in that famous old (and very haunted) seaport of Whitby in North Yorkshire, England. Study-wise I have delved into the worlds of parapsychology, dream analysis, tarot and runes, gaining qualifications in all of these areas over the years. I have also appeared on BBC Radio and TV and on US TV and radio, these appearances regarding the many ghosts that haunt Whitby and London. I recently wrote an article on Whitby and 19th century Gothic horror authors who visited there, this for a US based website 'Haunt Jaunts', which specialises in online information about travel to haunted locations worldwide. I am a member of the ASSAP, (Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena) and the Diogenes Club of Washington DC and I also have a BA (Hons) History.
