Der medizinische Fortschritt, ins- besondere auch die verbesserte Notfallversorgung, führt zu einer Hochaltrigkeit, die oft mit multipler Pathologie und entsprechendem Pflegebedarf und einer Umsiedelung in ein Pflegeheim einhergeht (Beske 2011). Kontrakturen sind ein häufig auftretendes Problem bei anhaltender Immobilität verschiedener Genese, insbesondere wenn diese mit Multipathologie einher geht (Amann 2009). Deshalb haben Bewohner1 von Pflegeheimen in besonde- rem Ma e ein erhöhtes Kontrakturrisiko. Pflegeheime im Kontext dieser Arbeit sind stationäre Einrichtungen, die sich auf die Pflege von Menschen speziali- siert haben, für die aus gesundheitlichen Gründen oder aufgrund eines fehlen- den Versorgungsnetzes ein Verbleiben in der Häuslichkeit nicht möglich ist. Dabei sind 93% der Bewohner von Pflegeheimen alte Menschen (über 65 Jah- re) (vgl. 3.1.3) und nur 7% der Bewohner unter 65 Jahre alt (Statistisches Bun- desamt 2011). Pflegeheime bieten im Rahmen des Versorgungsvertrages (So- zialgesetzbuch XI) (SGB XI 2011) primär Regelleistungen der Grundversor- gung, Wohnen, Hauswirtschaft und Pflege, an (Kämmer 2008). In dieser Arbeit werden zunächst grundlegende Begriffe im Bereich der Kontrakturprophylaxe bestimmt, bevor danach weiter auf die praktischen Grundlagen eingegangen wird.
